Things you should know before getting married in Dolomites

How to get married in Dolomites, Italy

If you're dreaming of a wedding with breathtaking mountain views, fresh air, and natural beauty, then the Dolomites in Italy might just be the perfect location for your big day. With its stunning landscape and charming alpine villages, the Dolomites offer a unique and unforgettable wedding experience.

One of the most amazing thing about Dolomites, is that they are never the same. Every time I came here to shot a wedding, I’m not prepared to the majestic beauty of this magical place. Even if I know very well these mountains: every time is like the first one.

Planning a wedding in the mountains can be quite different from a traditional wedding, so here are some tips to help you organize your wedding on the Dolomites.

  1. Choose the right season

The Dolomites are beautiful all year round, but it's important to choose the right season for your wedding. If you're planning an outdoor wedding, then summer and early autumn are the best seasons. The weather is usually warm and sunny, with clear blue skies, perfect for an outdoor ceremony. (you can see two different shooting from these two seasons down there in the blog) Spring and winter are also beautiful, but it's important to take into account the weather conditions, which can be unpredictable. 2. Choose the right location

The Dolomites offer many beautiful locations for your wedding, from small alpine villages to luxury mountain resorts. Some popular locations for weddings include Cortina d'Ampezzo, Alta Badia, Val Gardena, and Val di Fassa. It's important to choose a location that suits your style and budget and that offers the services and facilities you need for your wedding. You can read my other blog about it here

3. Plan your transport

Getting to and around the Dolomites can be challenging, especially if you have a large wedding party. It's important to plan your transport in advance, whether you're arriving by car, train, or plane. Consider hiring a local wedding planner who can help you with transportation arrangements and logistics.

4. Consider the altitude

The Dolomites are located at high altitude, and it's important to consider the effects of altitude on your guests. Some people may experience altitude sickness, which can cause headaches, nausea, and dizziness. It's a good idea to provide your guests with plenty of water and to schedule some time for them to acclimatize to the altitude.

5. Plan your activities

The Dolomites offer many activities for you and your guests, from hiking and skiing to cycling and horse riding. It's a good idea to plan some activities for your guests, especially if they're traveling a long way to attend your wedding. Consider hiring a local guide or activity provider who can organize activities for your group.

6. Consider the weather

The weather in the mountains can be unpredictable, so it's important to have a backup plan in case of rain or other adverse weather conditions. Consider renting a marquee or indoor space for your reception, and have some indoor activities planned in case of bad weather.

7. Work with local vendors

Organizing a wedding in the mountains can be challenging, especially if you're not familiar with the area. Consider working with a local wedding photographer and planner that can help you with all the details, from finding the right location to organizing transport, activities, and accommodation for your guests. A local vendor can also help you with local customs and traditions, and can provide invaluable advice on how to make your wedding unique and unforgettable.

In conclusion, organizing a wedding in the Dolomites can be a wonderful and unforgettable experience, but it's important to plan carefully and work with local experts to ensure that everything runs smoothly. With the right planning and preparation, your wedding in the mountains can be a truly magical experience that you and your guests will never forget.
